Breathe

I climbed the mountain and thought I had arrived
How humbling to realize I had only just begun

Each step taken is just a simple step
Each halt is just a pause in time

And so, I breathe in and try to exhale
Slow at first to expel out the dismay

I dust myself and try to find my place
I take a rest
then I run to gather all my strength
  
…And I fly

I fly with all my might
and I cry, amazed at my own valor
laughing, feeling overjoyed
then along comes a wind that knocks me to the ground

And I'm humbled to realize I have only just begun
and each step taken is just a simple step
and so I breathe in and try to exhale…
